Hi, i’m David Baker
I help companies define and deliver products that drive value for people & businesses
I’m a designer with over 25 years of experience creating thoughtful, intuitive experiences that connect people, ideas, and technology. Over the years, I’ve worked across in-house teams, public sector, design agencies, and independent projects — each one teaching me something new about how design can bring clarity to complexity and make things work better for real people.
My journey has led me to collaborate with a wide range of clients and organisations, including HSBC, West Midlands Police, West Midlands Fire Service, NHS, GlaxoSmithKline, and HS2. I’ve also worked within the public sector, designing services that meet the GOV.UK Digital Service Standards — helping teams deliver accessible, user-centred experiences that serve everyone, effectively and fairly. Each project has offered a different perspective on how design can shape services, simplify systems, and make meaningful change happen.
I’ve always been curious about how things work — and how they could work better. My experience spans creative direction, branding, user interface design, user research, accessibility, and service design. I’ve led teams, guided projects from concept to completion, and worked closely with cross-disciplinary partners to test, refine, and bring ideas to life.
Design, for me, is a process of empathy and exploration. It’s about listening, learning, and crafting experiences that feel effortless and authentic. I care deeply about detail — about making things that are both beautiful and useful, that invite people in and make their lives a little easier.
This site shares a small selection of personal and client work that reflects how I think and create.
